I love the reply Mother Teresa gave to those who asked her to march against the Vietnam War.
I love this reply because it is a classic example of focusing your energy on what you are for rather than on what you are against. I also find it inspiring because it reminds me of one of my favorite Martin Luther King Jr.'s quote:
And so it is, love is the greatest agent for change. And as my co-worker so beautifully stated today:
And I write all of this as I listen to one of my all-time favorite songs: Imagine by John Lennon. The lines are so powerful:
Oh, but I'm not yet done. I want to close by saying I firmly believe one person acting in love can change the world. How? Because one loving person powerfully impacts all those she comes in contact with. She raises the consciousness of others by her very presence. Because she is love, and love is contagious, her energy motivates and inspires others to act more lovingly, and the waves echo into eternity.
No I will not march against the war, but when you have a march for peace, I'll be there.
I love this reply because it is a classic example of focusing your energy on what you are for rather than on what you are against. I also find it inspiring because it reminds me of one of my favorite Martin Luther King Jr.'s quote:
Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.
And so it is, love is the greatest agent for change. And as my co-worker so beautifully stated today:
Love is the only unlimited resource on earth. Never use it sparingly.
And I write all of this as I listen to one of my all-time favorite songs: Imagine by John Lennon. The lines are so powerful:
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for todayImagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace, youYou may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as oneImagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world, youYou may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one
John Winston Lennon, I love you!
