Half Measures Won't Due

The title of this post in my mind was Half Measures Won't Do but when I typed it the title came out Half Measures Won't Due . The Freudian slip is revealing so I decided to keep it. I was accepted into the two year mindfulness and meditation teacher certification training being offered by Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. There was an application process, and while I'm pretty sure they won't turn anyone away who is willing to pay, I was pleased that I was offered a place as a "strong candidate." When I received the notification of my acceptance, I was excited and then I was like, "Do I even want to do this?" I mean I know meditation is beneficial, but I'm more of a yogi than a meditator. I think about some of the retreats and assignments and I'm like, "this just is not my style." But then again, I haven't really ever committed myself to a dedicated meditation practice till now and I may not know nearly enough about the art to d...

Parental Guidance

I may have overstepped my bounds, but I couldn't help sharing my two cents with a group of my girlfriends concerning parental guidance. One of my friends wrote: As for me.... I'm busy just doing my mom thing and crying a lot over lasts with my senior. 😂 He's a little unsure about leaving for his mission immediately. Thinking he now wants to do a semester at school before going. I on the other hand spend a ton of time on my knees and in the Temple in his behalf so if you have extra time in your prayers.... please add him. He'd be an incredible missionary and would get in homes most others can't because people love him..... he just needs to see that in himself! So.... other than that.... just busy with life, but good and blessed! Love you all and grateful you're well and good!   To which I replied: OH I love your momma heart and your epic friend heart too! I will pray for you and your son, but you might wish I didn’t haha. . . I’...

Morality First. Rules Second.

A friend shared this epic presentation with me today. I really love this man's mind. He's brilliant! So much of what he said resonated with me--especially as I apply it to corporations and organized religion. Trust is paramount. Trusted decision making without hierarchy is the future. The courage to innovate without permission. Peer to peer is the future. Morality First. Rules Second. Watch the video and see why Andreas Antonopolous is a brilliant and radical revolutionary. Every important innovation was illegal. :) Forget concentrated power that is outdated with the everyday people who hold the actual information. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Think morality first, rules second.

Nature Knows

The weather is gorgeous today! I have been cleaning the garage and took Thor on a walk. I basked in the warmth of the sun mid winter. I passed a neighbor and mentioned how much I loved the weather today and then I caught myself saying how I shouldn't enjoy it so because we needed the snow. After exchanging a few more words I walked on and thought, "Nature knows it needs to snow why should I worry?" And with that thought I decided I would no longer qualify my enjoyment of the day with the statement about how we shouldn't enjoy it so because of our need for snow. Nature knows. If we need more snow, we will get it. I trust in the universal life force to supply just what we need when we need it. Everything is always as it should be. If there is a drought, Nature has a mighty fine reason. If there is a hurricane that wreaks havoc on the coast, Nature is serving its purpose. Our job is to go with the flow and hopefully, enjoy it as it goes. So grateful for this awaren...

Let Go and Let God

Today was a fun day in Hawaii and while I’d love to chronicle all our adventures, one is more important to note than all others. It occurred at Waikiki Beach. Page lost her goggles when a large wave pummeled her. She and her sisters search around the surf to no avail. They were gone. She came up on the beach, where I was enjoying a good book, and vented her frustrations. I told her I was sorry that happened and assured her that it wasn’t a big deal and we could rent some other ones or buy her some new ones. She, however, could not be consoled as she was positive her day, and in fact her entire trip, were now ruined. I exercised my Buddha wisdom and reminded her of pain and suffering. I told her there wasn’t anything she could now do to bring her goggles back as the Sea Gods had claimed them and only they could give them back if they wanted and it would be in their own due time if they felt so inclined. Rather than be upset that her siblings were no longer interested in searching for th...
